Jeffrey Haworth, Petroleum Data Manager, WA Department of Industry and Resources
Jeff Haworth worked from 1976 to 1978 in the nickel mining industry before spending a year in the Canning Basin exploring for diamonds.In 1979, he joined Exploration Logging and was involved in well site mud logging, pressure engineering, research and well site geology for the next 12 years.He has worked throughout Australia and the world including the North Sea, Arctic Ocean, offshore Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and the USA.His research work in Sacramento, California resulted in publishing several papers on Reservoir characterisation using Light (C1-C5) Hydrocarbon Gases from Mud Logging Data which have been published by AAPG, SPWLA and SPE.
He joined the then Department of Minerals and Energy (now the Department of Industry and Resources - DoIR) in 1991 and has worked for the Department as their Petroleum Data Manager to the present day His work with DoIR includes developing databases for the management of petroleum assets and managing the data submitted to government by the petroleum industry.Making data available to the industry has been the underlying focus of DoIR and the creation of the Western Australia Petroleum Information Management System (WAPIMS) to deliver data across the internet was the culmination of several years work by Jeff and his team.
Jeff has a Bachelor of Science in Mining Geology from the WA School of Mines in Kalgoorlie
