Dear Mr. Hartford :
Thank you again for attending our meeting on June 30.We formally request a review by your office to determine if the home at 1511 Thurston is an appropriate location for sex offenders.
The DSHS Division of Developmental Disabilities Policy 4.10 , Community Protection Standards for Intensive Tenant Support , states : Program participants with sexually violent/predatory behaviors must not live near schools , day care centers , public playgrounds , or similar settings..

In July 1999 , Mr. Hartford visited the home at 1511 Thurston and told Ms. Doyle Peller¾in a telephone conversation¾ that he determined it was unsuitable.He refused to put this in writing.He told her that the men would be moved when another rental house was located.
Fast-forward to March 2000 : Dawn Doyle Peller called Mr. Hartford for a status report.

Mr. Hartford told her that one of the sex offenders had been removed , leaving 3 residents in the home.He felt that this eased the overcrowding problem and took away some of the urgency for finding a more suitable residence for the men.He said , We continue to look for more suitable housing....
WHAT CAN A CONCERNED RESIDENT DOWe have identified a number of policy issues that should be addressed by our elected officials.Please write or call your State Representatives and Senators ( see contact information below ) .
The issues include ( 1 ) age and qualifications of support staff , ( 2 ) distance from vulnerable populations , ( 3 ) need for visual buffers , ( 4 ) lot size , ( 5 ) separation requirements , and ( 6 ) better community notification.
