Roy Hart, D.O. Returns to Des Moines to Join Broadlawns OB/GYN Department
Des Moines, March 20, 2008 - Roy Hart, D.O., has returned home to join Broadlawns Medical Center's Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.
A Des Moines native and graduate of Des Moines North High School, Dr. Hart said, "I'm pleased to have the opportunity to combine practice and teaching at Broadlawns, which is a well-respected teaching hospital," Dr. Hart said.
"That, plus the fact that this is coming home for me, made the move to Broadlawns a very attractive opportunity."
Chief Medical Office Vincent Mandracchia, D.P.M., M.H.A., welcomed Dr. Hart, adding, "We are pleased to have someone of Dr. Hart's experience contribute to the teaching of residents at Broadlawns.
His addition to the OB/GYN staff will also increase our ability to serve the health needs of women in our community."
Dr. Hart comes to Broadlawns from Saginaw, Mich., where he was assistant program director of the OB/GYN Residency Training Program at the Synergy Medical Education Alliance.
A graduate of Grand View College and Drake University, Dr. Hart earned his medical degree from Des Moines University.
He completed his internship at Cranston (Rhode Island) General Hospital and his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mercy Medical Center in Pontiac, Mich.
Dr. Hart is board certified by the American Board of Obstetricains and Gynecolgoists, and said that the most rewarding part of his profession is "being present for the delivery of the babies.
That is always special."
Dr. Hart and his wife, Marilyn, a registered nurse, have five children, two of whom are currently attending Iowa universities, and two of whom have graduated from Iowa universities.
