Known for her stylistic interpretation of music spanning the Baroque to contemporary, mezzo-soprano Martha J. Hart has sung to critical acclaim throughout North America and France.Highly regarded for her performance of oratorio, art song and chamber music, Martha has sung with symphony orchestras including Montreal, Atlanta, Phoenix, St. Louis, and the Orchestra of St. Luke,s at Carnegie Hall.Conductors with whom Ms. Hart has worked include Helmuth Rilling, Simon Preston, Craig Jessop, and the late Robert Shaw.

As a recitalist, Ms. Hart is known for her imaginative programs combining poetry reading and art song around a central theme.As one critic writes: "The program was charming, touching, and engaging, both in content and presentation."A versatile singer, Martha is part of the ensemble Three for the Road, a trio dedicated to the performance of American popular music from the 1930s and'40s.

In addition to her performance credits, Martha is a respected vocal pedagogue and is invited to present master classes at colleges and universities.Currently she serves as Artist-in-Residence and during the summer she is artist/faculty at the Bay View Music Festival in northern Michigan.

Hart is highly regarded for her performances of oratorio , concert and art song repertoire ranging from Baroque to the Contemporary works.Martha has sung with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra , Montreal Symphony Orchestra , Atlanta Symphony Orchestra , Omaha Chamber Symphony , Florida Orchestra , Lansing Symphony , Independence Symphony and Messiah Chorus , and the Saint Lawrence Choir and Orchestra , Montreal.She has been a frequent soloist at the Kalamazoo Bach Festival , in Bach's Mass in B Minor , both Passions , and Handel's Saul.With conductor Robert Shaw , Ms. Hart has performed Beethoven's Missa Solemnis , Mozart's Requiem , Berlioz' L'enfance du Christ , and Copland's In the Beginning.She has recorded solos for the Brahms Liebeslieder Waltzes with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers and is a featured soloist on Schubert Songs for Male Chorus both on the Telarc label.As a recitalist , Ms. Hart is known for her imaginative programs combining poetry reading and art song around a central theme.She is also a member of the ensemble Three for the Road who perform programs of American popular music from the 1930's and 40's.Currently she serves as Artist-in-Residence at Graceland College.This is her eighth summer at Bay View.

Guest soloists are bass Daniel Eifert, a Valparaiso alumnus and member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus and Grant Park Festival Chorus, and mezzo-soprano Martha Hart, an artist-in-residence and Vredenburg chair in music at Graceland University.
