John Hart, Ph.D., Professor of Christian Ethics at Boston University School of Theology, visited St. John Fisher College to present "Melting Glaciers and Burning Fields: Climate Change and Catholic Faith" on Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m. in Basil Auditorium.
Dr. Hart discussed the impact of global warming seen throughout the world, and suggested concrete projects for pastors, parishioners, faculty, and students to address climate change.
In Glacier National Park in Montana, the Swiss Alps in Europe, and in Asia and Africa, global warming is melting glaciers and mountain tops.In the Midwest and throughout the world, global warming can be blamed for causing drought and burning fields, which are killing crops and destroying the source of residents' life and livelihood.

Dr. Hart is the author of four books, including Sacramental Commons: Christian Ecological Ethics; What Are They Saying About… Environmental Theology?; and The Spirit of the Earthâ€"A Theology of the Land.Earlier in his career, Dr. Hart served as Professor of Theology and founding Director of Environmental Studies at Carroll College in Helena, Montana.He is internationally known for his work in social and environmental ethics, and has given more than 200 presentations in 28 U.S. states, and in Canada, Brazil, Switzerland, Italy, Nepal, and England.
On Friday, March 23, Dr. Hart returned to Fisher for "Lunch with the Author: Dr. John Hart" from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in Wilson Formal Lounge.At the luncheon, Dr. Hart gave a presentation, took questions, and had a book signing session.
