Is the author of several best selling postgraduate textbooks, including Doing a Literature Review: Releasing the Social Science Imagination, (OU/Sage 1998) Doing a Literature Search (Sage 2001) and Doing Your Masters Dissertation: Realizing Your Potential as a Social Science (Sage 2004).Chris has worked in higher education for over 20 years, including stints at the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Salford.An experienced Masters and Doctorate supervisor, curriculum developer and course manager Chris has in-depth knowledge of higher education.A graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University and Manchester Victoria University he has degrees in the social sciences, economics and ethnomethodology.

He is also general editor of the Sage Essential Study Skills Series and co-founder and a director of the International Historic Vehicle Research Institute (HVRI).His previous research is diverse and includes contract and scholarly research on advertising, skills needs evaluation, professional standards, collectors and collecting, fans and fandom, fragrance classification schemes, narrative structures, popular romantic fiction and much more.His current research projects included a pan-European survey of the historic vehicle industry (100,000 questionnaires) and a study of the social distribution of knowledge by Beatles fans using the Internet.Chris has also just completed an analysis of MBA Curriculum from courses world-wide.The results of this will be published in the forthcoming Doing Your MBA: A Guide for Hard-Pressed Professionals and in Doing Your MBA Project: A Guide for Hard-Pressed Professionals.

Chris is also an active fundraiser for a number of different organizations.He undertakes research on potential funding sources including sponsorship and donations, mainly for universities in the UK.He also identifies and writes funding proposals for voluntary organizations and charities, including faith organizations.
