"This is a great opportunity to try those innovative things you always wanted to try but didn't have the funds or the manpower to do," said Jennette Harper, who oversees the funds for the Rialto Unified School District.
In the Rialto district, Boyd and Henry elementary schools, Rialto and Kolb middle schools and Rialto and Eisenhower high schools are getting money.

Harper said high schools in Rialto plan to hire support teachers to provide specialized instruction in math and language arts.
Teachers will use multimedia, technology and nontraditional teaching methods to try to improve student performance at the high schools, Harper said.
"The kids at the high schools should feel more connected because of the changes," Harper said.
