Deputy Casey Harmon was just 20 years old, but had already served as a part time deputy and full time jailer for Chickasaw County, Ms. for one year, when he transferred to the Lee county Sheriffs office.Casey was assigned to the Julenile Detention Center at Tupelo, Ms.While on duty, he was shot in the head with a 22 cal. pistol, that a 16 year old shoplifting suspect had in his shoe.The suspect was in the process of being released when he shot Deputy Harmon, killing him instantly.
