    The 76-year-old former president hurt his right rotator cuff while jogging on the beach Thursday, Carter Center spokeswoman Carrie Harmon said Monday.

    Carter underwent surgery Friday at Emory University Hospital and was released Saturday, she said.He is expected to recover fully after a few weeks of physical therapy, she said.

    Carter had traveled to San Diego on Carter Center business.
