    PALMYRA - The resignation of former Palmyra Area High School principal Kelly Harbaugh was accepted by the school board Thursday night, prompting a review of some administrative shuffling that was to have included the 20-year district employee's promotion to assistant superintendent.

    Superintendent Larry Schmidt said Harbaugh submitted her resignation May 21 for unspecified reasons, effective June 30.

    Career assignments will form a portfolio, with 75 percent of the work done in class, said Principal Kelly Harbaugh.

    In their senior year, students will still have to do a written report and give an oral presentation, which will be termed an "exit interview."

    "This will no longer be something that students put off until the last minute their senior year," Harbaugh said.

    In the current graduation project program, some students "if they really procrastinated," could "do [it] in a week, or maybe even a night before, for some."

    Graduation projects are required by the state Department of Education, Harbaugh said.
