Hanser retired from Mercy Health Partners in Cincinnati as president and chief executive officer in February 2001 after eight years.While there, she was instrumental in developing an integrated health care network consisting of six hospitals, several long-term health facilities, wellness centers and home health care agencies.Following her retirement, she did consulting work in both health care and non-health care administration.She was also a member of the Daughters of Charity of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for 29 years.Her career in health care began as a critical care nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans.She returned to school to earn her master's degree in health care administration at Indiana University.She served as president and CEO of Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama; St. Marys Hospital and Milwaukee County Hospital in Milwaukee.In 1993, she returned to Ohio at the invitation of Catholic Health Partners to form Mercy Health Partners in Cincinnati.
She was also involved in many social service organizations, particularly those dealing with women's needs.She also worked with the Girl Scouts of America.
