Cheryl Hancock, the assistant director for Crook County Library, says trying to expand the population that accesses the library is "absolutely" something she thinks about.

"We try to reach out to all the kids we can," said Hancock.

A number of children from the surrounding neighborhood walk to the library, and she encourages those who come from disadvantaged homes to take advantage of library services.

"The ones that are struggling a little, a lot come from families that don't read," said Hancock.
