    Charles C. "Slim" Hancock, 70, of Lake Wales, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, of heart failure at Lake Wales Medical Centers.

    He was a native of Christmas who came to the area from Moore Haven 37 years ago.He retired after 27 years as a serviceman for Florida Power Corporation, and was a member of the Florida Power Pioneer Club.He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2420 in Lake Wales.He was of the Protestant faith.

    He is survived by his wife, Ann Shirley Hancock of Lake Wales; four daughters, Regina Harris and Tina Stanley, both of Lake Wales, Pamela Mercer of Babson Park and Sherre Bobzien of Monroeville, Ala.; two sons, Charles C. "Chuck" Hancock Jr. and Steven W. Hancock, both of Lake Wales; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Bessie Simpson of Moore Haven; and a brother, Julian Hancock of Clewiston.

    Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home.Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.

    Memorial donations may be made to the V.F.W. Post 2420, 200 West Central Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853.
