"We're anticipating that 2004 will probably be the best travel and tourism year in the nation's capital's history," says George Hanbury, chief executive officer of the Washington, D.C. Convention and Tourism Corp.
Even before the dedication of the World War II Memorial brought thousands of veterans and their families to D.C., hotels were filling up more than they have in years.
Hanbury says hotel occupancy was up over 2003 in March, April and May.

But Hanbury says Washington has been improving ever since.
Ronald Reagan National Airport has been so busy this summer that parking lots have filled up early on several days.
