Barbara received her initial nurse training and nursing degree in Germany from the Red Cross.In 1970, Barbara obtained her California Registered Nurse license.During the 1970's, Barbara worked at local hospitals, including Highland, Eden, Humana, and Memorial Hospital.From 1980 to 1987, Barbara supervised home health nursing for a number of East Bay home health agencies.

In 1987, Barbara founded Nightingale Nursing in order to provide a more personalized brand of home health care.

Barbara Hamrick was renominated as an At Large Member.Hamrick has served since February 19, 2002, and founded Nightingale Nursing in 1987.
