Mr John Hampson
...
John started out by working in a family construction business dealing with development and refurbishment in south Hampshire for several years before moving into public sector surveying.
He then undertook full-time study at the University of West of England in 1992, going on to achieve an HND in Building Studies and BSc (Hons) Building Surveying. After graduating he worked for the University on a project looking at the maintenance and surveying for vicarages and parsonages before moving to London and becoming national programme manager for the Richmond Fellowship, a mental health organisation.
In 1998 he moved to the Chartered Institute of Building and became responsible for the accreditation process for all the major universities in the UK.In 2002 he then took on the role of specialist projects manager with Business Link Berkshire and Wiltshire.
Since taking on the CKE role in his region, John has been networking hard to create links with the professional institutes, and major construction companies in his area. There is now an active events programme at the University for the built environment as well as building up the research knowledge that can then be spun-out to other universities and companies in his area.
He also has a strong interest in construction and e-business and will be teaching the subject on a part-time basis at London South Bank University in 2006.
