If mistakes were made in last fall's elections, then County Council member Steve Hammond of Enumclaw wants some names.
...
Logan told Hammond that he "would love it if I could pick just one head to roll."But fixing problems goes beyond simply firing someone, he said.
The council will schedule additional meetings with Logan to discuss the election problems and his suggestions to fix them.
...
Hammond told Logan he voted to confirm him as director of the elections division, expecting to see reforms in the way elections are run.
Hammond, a Republican, asked Logan whether voter confidence had improved under his tenure.Logan said he would like to say yes, but instead he said there hasn't been improvement because of the governor's race.
To that, Hammond said he's doubtful that reforms will ever happen.
...
Hammond said he loves grandmothers and he was pointing to county election workers and not the election volunteers in asking who was responsible for the mistakes.
Newly appointed Republican council member, Reagan Dunn of Bellevue, agreed that voters still lack confidence in the county's election process.A former federal prosecutor, he questions why the county only removed 600 felons from the voting rolls last year, when there are many more felony convictions in the county each year.
