    Printmaker Thomas Hammond was educated at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and East Carolina University, where he was awarded the Bachelor of Science in 1962 and the Master of Arts in 1964.He studied engraving at Atelier 17 in Paris in 1975.In 1970 he took a position as Instructor of Printmaking, Drawing and Watercolor at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia in Athens.He is now Professor Emeritus at that institution.

    During the past thirty years Hammond has exhibited in solo and group shows in the United States and overseas in Belgium, Italy, Hungary, France, Holland, Spain, Japan and the People's Republic of China.His work can be found in the collections of the Royal Museum of Art in Antwerp, Belgium; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Penland School, North Carolina; Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, North Carolina; University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Mint Museum of Art, North Carolina, among others.

    While working in collaboration with Harvey K. Littleton, the man called the "father of the Studio Glass Movement," and the staff at Littleton Glass Studio, Hammond produced the vitreograph prints shown here.
