Alex HamiltonParkinson's Support Center
...
Its November 5, 2006, Alex Hamilton, an attorney with Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs in Louisville, is prepared and ready, standing at the starting line of the New York Marathon, a 26.2 mile run through the streets of New York.Alex had never run this marathon before, although he had run the Boston Marathon twice in the past and many other smaller marathons, but this time it was different. As the starting gun went off, he knew that he had financial supporters at home who were cheering for him to make it all the way to the end, even if he didn't run the whole way (he did admit that he may have walked some towards the end of the race).I think most of us would have been crawling however, Alex had a reason for succeeding.Alex was not just running to win, he was running to raise funds on behalf of the Parkinson Support Center of Kentuckiana (PSCKY) for support of the Parkinson's Disease community.
Alex has seen the impact that Parkinson's Disease has had on his mother, 82-year old Edna of Bardstown, Kentucky. He wanted to do something to make a difference, and he did by enlisting the financial support of family, friends, and colleagues. His mother was diagnosed over four years ago with this frustrating and sometimes debilitating disease. She does not exhibit the expected tremors associated with the disease, but she does have problems with rigidity and sometimes her balance is unsteady and she falls.
...
Alex never told his mother that he was going to do this to raise money for Parkinson's Disease, nor has he told her to this day.He should because she should know what a remarkable man her son is.
We all thank you Alex for going far "above and beyond" to raise funds for the Parkinson Support Center of Kentuckiana (PSCKY) and the Parkinson's Disease community.
