    Mr. Hamilton was the pastor at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in rural Bucyrus and Nevada Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nevada. He previously served both St. James Lutheran Church, Payne, and St. John Lutheran Church, Briceton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Hamilton was passionate about sharing the gospel, which included ministering to both his congregations and individuals in the community. He also was active in various committees in the Northwestern Ohio Synod. For hobbies, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and canning, making candy, weight lifting and riding his motorcycle. Mr. Hamilton also enjoyed singing and writing short stories and poems.

    Rev. Frank Hamilton attended church all his life but, at the age of 42, the Lord's inexorable call changed his heart.He had previously served in the US Army and worked as an owner/operator in the trucking business, but then felt a call to the ministry and, in 1978, he enrolled at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS. Frank and his wife Helen have been in the ministry since 1982.He has served both as a pastor and executive director of two drug/alcohol ministries.

    Frank's most recent call was to missionary work in Scotland, where he taught and preached in various locations, and also planted two churches there.

    Francis Lee Hamilton, 79, Lebanon, died Friday at his residence.

    Born June 10, 1921 in Frankfort, he was the son of Amos Levi and Mary F. (Hamilton) Hamilton.

    A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he had been an Indiana State Trooper from 1949-71, serving at the Lafayette and the Putnamville posts.

    He was assistant chief of security at DePauw University from 1971-75 before moving to New Mexico.He had resided in Lebanon the past six years.

    He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 619 in Mulberry, Ind.

    Surviving are four sons, Michael Hamilton, Kokomo, Jeffrey Hamilton, Lafayette, Kevin Hamilton, Frankfort, Ken R. Hamilton and wife Janice, Lebanon; two daughters, Karen R. Hamilton, Fruitland Park, Fla., and Lisa Castle, Frankfort; a sister, Roberta Lee, Colfax; and 11 grandchildren.

    Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Memories, Lebanon, with burial in Old Union Cemetery in Boone County.

    Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with masonic services at 7:30 p.m.

    During that time, his father, Dr. Frank Hamilton, served as pastor at First Methodist Church at Georgia and McCallie avenues, which has been torn down except for its steeple.The family had come from Daytona Beach, Fla.

    While here, he resided briefly at 201 Glenwood Drive and later at 128 S. Crest Road on Missionary Ridge in a home that was torn down for the ridge-cut freeway construction.

    He went on to become a standout basketball player at DePauw University in Indiana.He later attended Indiana University law school and practiced private law for 10 years before entering politics.He served as a U.S.Congressman from Southern Indiana from 1965-99.

    Considered one of the most respected Democrats in the area of foreign affairs, he chaired the 1980s' committee that investigated the illegal sale of arms to Iran, a United States adversary, to fund the anti-communist Contra guerilla group in Nicaragua.
