Start making reservations for limousines immediately, says Beth Hamilton, the owner of Brentwood Limousine and Coach in Englewood, and an officer with the Limousine Association of Colorado.
And always, she says, visit the limousine company, interview the employees and check out the cars before committing.
Ask yourself: "Would I trust my children in a car with this man or woman?"she says."Why would you ever put the trust of your kids in someone you think could be questionable?"
In addition, she says, get in writing exactly - down to the license-place number - what limousine you are renting.Baiting and switching is somewhat common in the industry, she says.
In addition, she recommends promgoers investigate limousine companies through the Better Business Bureau of Denver and look for a 2005 Public Utilities Commission sticker on the bottom right side of the limousine windshield.Only limousines with insurance get the sticker, she says.
Plan to pay an additional 20 percent gratuity to the limousine driver, she says, and expect also to pay a fuel charge, usually about 5 percent of the bill. Some companies charge a "driver fee," too.Find out beforehand, because if they do charge the fee, you don't need to pay the gratuity, she says.
Finally, she says, "make sure that the people you are going with are committed to doing this before you make a deposit."
