We were looking at all sorts of complementary health care and George Hacker, who was Bishop of Penrith, then was Chairman of the group. He took us all to the centre to meet Gretchen and see her work, and from that moment I was hooked!

Bishop George Hacker is the Editor of Chrism and was Bishop of Penrith until his retirement in 1994.His connection with the Guild goes back as far as 1954, when he was a part-time hospital chaplain.He was a member of the East Cumbria Health Authority from 1982 to 1990 and the Bishop of Carlisle's Adviser for Hospital Chaplains.
