Floyd Eugene "Gene" Hacker, 85, of Anderson, died March 9, 2002, at The Willows in Alexandria following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 10, 1916, in Anderson the son of Henry and Treva (Layton) Hacker, and was a lifetime Anderson resident.He attended Anderson High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country in both World War II and the Korean War.
In 1974 he retired from his employment at Delco Remy's Plant 10.
His love of golf led him to Augusta, Ga., where he served as a gallery guard at the Master's Tournament for 15 years.
He was a devoted Madison County citizen who was involved with the creation of, and active in, the Independent Federal Credit Union, the Madison County Shrine Club Crippled Children's Organization, and instrumental in the building of Highland High School and College Corner Elementary School.He was a member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge 681, the Madison County Scottish Rite, Madison County Shrine Club, Broadway Chapter 591 Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Temple of Indianapolis and St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
