The barriers are suppose to keep cars from crossing illegally.So far, the Border Patrol says it's working well.But the problem is when the mile long barrier ends, there's absolutely nothing between the two countries.
"People just go further west or east ... sometimes move the obstruction out of the way," says Gutierrez.
In addition to serving the city, Roberto owns a small deli.He worries that a bigger barrier will mean fewer customers.
"There's less money going around, less shopping.People are afraid of law enforcement," says Gutierrez.
But not everyone along the border thinks this is a bad idea.NewsChannel 9 talked with one man who lives and works in Mexico.He offered another side to this debate.
