Ronald D. Guthrie, a resident of Wauna for 30 years, died May 21. He was 72.
He was born Nov. 10, 1929, in Portland, Ore.
At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Corps and became a crew chief on the C-124. He had a love for this aircraft and for flying.
After retiring from 20 years in the Air Force and 20 years in the Civil Service, Mr. Guthrie spent time working on family genealogy and volunteering at the McChord Air Force Base Air Museum.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Schlerf of Hydesville, Calif.; a son, Michael Guthrie of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a brother, Donald K. Guthrie of Portland, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Lenora (Elliott) Guthrie.
A graveside service was held at Haven of Rest, Gig Harbor, on May 24.
