Frank Gryglewicz, director of finance and administrative services for Englewood, said $2.6 million was shaved from the budget for next year through various cuts, including 58 staff positions. The general fund budget in 2003 was $36.7 million, but the 2004 budget is $34.1 million, he said.
Gryglewicz said some employees are retiring and some have already left the city for other jobs.If the ballot measure is passed - along with a proposed property tax hike - the city could restore some of the positions.
The 58 positions cut include the equivalent of 26 1/2 full-time safety service jobs, said Gryglewicz. Those include one part-time and 12 full-time employees in the Englewood Police Department, one full-time dispatcher, and eight full-time employees in the Englewood Fire Department, Gryglewicz said.
