    Susan Groves lives in Fulton, MO with her husband, Mike, and 3 dogs.They have three children, but no grandchildren. . . yet!Susan got her Music Therapy degree at the University of Kansas, and her career spans 39 years.She provided therapeutic involvement for clients at the Menninger Clinic, Rochester State Hospital, two nursing homes and Fulton State Hospital, where she's worked for 22 years.She was honored as Employee of the Month in 1987 and again in 1995.She was awarded Dept. of Mental Health Employee of the Month in 1987.Due to good health, she hasn't called in sick for 11 years!Using her knowledge of music and people skills, she motivates others to make music.She knows music is a wonderful energizer, as well as, a healthy way to relax.She plays a variety of instruments, the newest being French horn (3 years ago).She plays that instrument in the Columbia Community Band, trumpet at Cameo Showcases and church events, banjo in a bluegrass quartet, drums in a Dixieland band, and plays guitar almost every day at work.

    Community involvement results in volunteer opportunities and she willingly offers her interest and energy.Her current involvements include the Callaway County Humane Society Board of Directors, Elder at the First Presbyterian Church, Sunday school teacher at Presbyterian Manor, Cameo Club Showcases, and playing with the Columbia Community Band which gives free concerts in the Columbia, MO area.Her membership in PEO allows her to assist area women reach their educational goals.She's looking forward to retirement and plans to continue to offer her skills and knowledge of Music Therapy to geriatric residents and hospice programs.During the summer, she plans on sharing vegetables from her garden.Of course she will continue to play with various groups and perform whenever possible.She's also planning to travel with her husband in their bus conversion (which Mike made), to visit their Marine son, his twin brother who does Occupational Therapy with brain injured clients, and their social worker daughter and husband.
