Dr. Steven A. Groves attended Edison Community College receiving an Associate of Arts degree with honors in 1999.He then transferred to the University of Florida where he began his undergraduate studies and gained admission into the College of Veterinary Medicine.During veterinary school, Dr. Groves continued his undergraduate studies and obtained his Bachelors of Animal Sciences (Animal Biology Specialization), graduating with honors in 2002.Dr. Groves graduated from the University of Florida in 2005 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
During his professional training, Dr. Groves worked at the Animal Medical Clinic of Port Charlotte and Newberry Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician.In his spare time he participated in monthly clinics as a student surgeon for an all volunteer free sterilization program for feral and stray cats to help control feline overpopulation in Alachua County.
Dr. Groves is a member of many professional organizations including the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, Charlotte County Veterinary Medical Association and American Animal Hospital Association.He has also been a member of the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Block and Bridle, Pre Vet Club and Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.His licenses include Florida State Veterinary License and USDA Florida Veterinary Accreditation, both acquired in 2005.
Dr. Groves provides emergency and critical care to small animals at Knowles Animal Clinics (central-emergency).He is particularly interested in soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery.Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Groves spends his time scuba diving, boating, fishing, golfing and playing with his 2 & ½ year old dog named Rogan.
