Charleston, S.C. - Nexsen Pruet Jacobs & Pollard, LLC, has expanded its Litigation Team for the second time this year, as attorneys H. Michael Bowers and Stephen P. Groves, Sr., have joined the firm's Charleston, S.C., office.
Bowers and Groves are former partners of Young Clement Rivers & Tisdale, LLP.

Bowers joins Nexsen Pruet as a Member.He is the former managing partner of Young Clement Rivers & Tisdale, LLP.His practice areas include products liability law and toxic tort litigation.
He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned his undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees.Bowers also served as staff attorney and assistant attorney general for South Carolina.Additionally, he has been actively involved with the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, which he served as president, and is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute.
Groves joins Nexsen Pruet as Special Counsel.His practice includes commercial litigation, appellate practice, and international law.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and has served on the editorial board of the South Carolina Lawyer and as a contributor to South Carolina Jurisprudence.Additionally, Groves has been a contributor or contributing editor to a number of publications and has been actively involved in professional legal groups, including the Defense Research Institute and the Council of Appellate Lawyers.

Stephen Groves is Special Counsel in Nexsen Pruet's Charleston, SC office and practices on the Litigation and Insurance Teams.
Mr. Groves comes to Nexsen Pruet from Young Clement Rivers & Tisdale, LLP where he was a Partner and one of the firm's litigation attorneys.Mr. Groves practice includes Commercial Litigation, Appellate Practice and International Law.
Mr. Groves received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the College of Charleston and his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina.He is admitted to the South Carolina Bar, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh and Federal Circuits.
Mr. Groves has served on the editorial board of the South Carolina Lawyer and as a contributor to South Carolina Jurisprudence.In addition, Mr. Groves has served as a contributor or contributing editor to a number of publications.Among them, South Carolina Civil Procedure and The Law of Domestic Relations in South Carolina, the ABA TIPS' Property Insurance Law Committee's Annotations to the Standard Fire and Homeowners Insurance Policy and Property Insurance Issues in Catastrophe losses.
Mr. Groves has also been actively involved in professional legal groups including the Defense Research Institute, Council of Appellate Lawyers, American Trial Lawyers Association and the South Carolina Bar.He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Sigma Alpha, Phi Alpha Delta and the Christian Legal Society.
