Robert H Grenier, PhD, CCP, CDP
Dr. Robert Grenier has diverse experience with Information Technology as a practitioner, consultant, educator, and student of the field. As a practitioner, he worked in the private sector for thirty years holding various managerial and technical positions for Applied Kinetics, Deere & Company, and Bandag, Incorporated. In 1999, he left Bandag as Manager, Supply Chain Planning and Systems. As a consultant, he and his brother have been partners in Third Wave Systems since 1982. They consult with small businesses on the use of information technology.
As an educator, Grenier served on the adjunct faculty for several institutions including the University of Iowa, Western Illinois University, Saint Ambrose University, Black Hawk College, and Scott Community College teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses in Business Administration, Mathematics, and Computer Science. He was a member of the Business Administration faculty at Augustana College from 2000 to 2006 teaching Introduction to Management Information Systems, Systems Analysis, Project Management, Management Concepts, Operations Management, and Business Statistics. Currently he is a member of the graduate faculty of Western Illinois University teaching Operations Management courses.
Grenier earned a BA in Mathematics and Physics from Millikin University, an MS in Mathematics with Honors from Western Washington University and an Executive MBA from the University of Iowa. In June 2000, he received a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University's Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences (SCIS)researching business-to-business electronic commerce. His dissertation topic was "An Object-oriented Model for Interorganizational Collaborative Planning."
In the fall of 2003 earned the Certified Computing Professional (CCP), a professional certification from the Institute for the Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP), by passing three examinations: Core Information Technology Skills, Information Technology Management, and Systems Development. Previously, he received Certified Data Processor (CDP) certification from the ICCP. He was recently invited to serve of the ICCP Certification Council.
Grenier is a ten-year member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) and has achieved several individual performance awards for his service to the IT profession. In 2004, he received Emerald award having previously earning the Bronze, Gold and Silver awards. He was president of the Illowa Chapter in 1995 and 2001.
During 2005, he served as the President of Region 5 which includes Wisconsin, Illinois, western Michigan and metropolitan Saint Louis. This region has 12 professional and 48 student chapters. Currently, he is serving on the Association Board of Directors as the representative for the Central District.
As the faculty advisor for the Augustana AITP student chapter, Grenier took seven students to the AITP National Collegiate Conference in Omaha in the spring of 2004. -
