    Cherie Greer was an All-American at Harriton and earned a full athletic scholarship to the University of Virginia.She continued her dominance of the sport in the college game, earning All-American honors three years in a row (1992,93 and 94).She was a member of two NCAA National Championship teams (1991 and 1993) and was the Division I Defensive Player of the Year in 1994.Cherie is one of only five female student athletes to have her number retired at the University of Virginia.

    In 2003, Cherie was named one of the Top 50 Female Athletes in ACC history and was named to the ACC Top 50 Lacrosse Team.She received one of lacrosse's highest honors, the Beth Allen award in 2000, for her consistent positive contributions to a team effort.As an international player, she has competed for Team USA on three World Cup teams (1993, 1997 and 2001) and led her team to three gold medals.She was the youngest member of the 1993 U.S. team and the only college player.She received the Most Valuable Player award in the 1997 and 2001 World Championship games, confirming her status as one of the top international lacrosse players.In 2000, Greer became the youngest member of Lacrosse Magazine's All-Century Team.

    Cherie Greer is one of the finest players to represent the Pennsylvania area at the collegiate ranks and in international competition.There are few players who have been so dominant in all aspects of the game.

    She is a 1990 graduate of Harriton High School, where she was an All American and earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Virginia.At Virginia, Cherie earned All American honors 3 years in a row ('92, '93 and '94).She was a member of two NCAA National Championship teams ('91, '93) and was named as the Division I Defensive Player of the Year in 1994.Cherie is one of only five female student athletes to have had her number retired at the University of Virginia.In 2003, Cherie was named one of the Atlantic Coast Conference's "Top 50 Female Athletes," as well as the "ACC's Top 50 Lacrosse Team."She received one of the highest honors for a lacrosse player when she was awarded the Beth Allen award (2000) for consistently making a positive contribution to the team effort.

    In 1999 US Lacrosse named Cherie Greer to its Team of the Century, describing her as a complete player who you could build a whole team around.Whenever UVA or the U.S. needed a big play, Cherie delivered. Greer, a three-time All-American selection, led the Cavaliers to two national championships in 1991 and 1993 and has won two gold medals at the World Cup Tournament in 1993 and 1997, being named Tournament Most Valuable Player in 1997.Perhaps the best reflection of Greer's force on the field is her performance during the 1994 season, in which she was named National Defensive Player of the Year, Most Valuable Player, and the University of Virginia's Female Athlete of the Year.In addition to her dominating defense in 1994, Greer led the nation in scoring, recording 61 goals and 18 assists.In her last 14 games she scored three or more times and in one game scored twice in six seconds.On February 4, 1999, DATE : [ 02/04/1999 ]Cherie Greer bacame the fourth woman in the history of Virginia athletics and the first woman's lacrosse player to have her number, 18, retired.

    She traveled to Great Britain with the 1996 U.S. Touring Team as well as competing in 1995 with the U.S. Team against Wales.She was the youngest and sole college student member of the 1993 U.S. World Cup Team.The U.S. Team won a gold medal in 1993 and 1997.An alternate to the 1992 U.S. Touring Team to Australia, she has been a member of the USA Women's Lacrosse Team since 1991.
