Cherie Greer - 2005
Cherie Greer is one of the finest players to represent the Pennsylvania area at the collegiate ranks and in international competition.There are few players who have been so dominant in all aspects of the game.
She is a 1990 graduate of Harriton High School, where she was an All American and earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Virginia.At Virginia, Cherie earned All American honors 3 years in a row ('92, '93 and '94).She was a member of two NCAA National Championship teams ('91, '93) and was named as the Division I Defensive Player of the Year in 1994.Cherie is one of only five female student athletes to have had her number retired at the University of Virginia.In 2003, Cherie was named one of the Atlantic Coast Conference's "Top 50 Female Athletes," as well as the "ACC's Top 50 Lacrosse Team."She received one of the highest honors for a lacrosse player when she was awarded the Beth Allen award (2000) for consistently making a positive contribution to the team effort.
As an international player, Cherie competed on three United States World Cup teams (1993, '97 & '01), and led her US Teams to three gold medals.She was the youngest member of the '93 team, and the only collegiate player to make the team.She received the Most Valuable player award in both the '97 and '01 World Championship games, securing her status as one of the top international lacrosse players ever.She has the rare honor of being selected to Lacrosse Magazine's All Century Team in 2000; she was the youngest of all the players to receive that honor.
Cherie is currently a member of the United States National Team, and is preparing for the 2004 World Cup championships in Anapolis, Maryland.She resides in Orlando, Florida, where she is a vice president with GranHco Enterprises, a sports marketing and management company.
