In Hallsville, 93 percent of third graders, 95 percent of fourth graders, 94 percent of sixth and seventh graders, 83 percent of ninth graders and 76 percent of 10th graders in the Hallsville Independent School District passed the TAKS examination, according to HISD Public Information Officer Carol Greer.Overall, 88 percent of the students passed the exit math exam, she said.
On the reading component, 97 percent of third graders, 98 percent of fifth graders, 98 percent of eighth graders, 95 percent of fourth graders, 98 percent of sixth graders, 94 percent of seventh graders and 96 percent of ninth met the standard score requirements imposed by Texas Education Agency officials, Ms. Greer said.She said 96 percent of 10th graders passed English language arts exams and 98 percent of the students passed the English language arts exit tests.
In the science portion, 97 percent of fifth graders, 78 percent of eighth graders, 75 percent of 10th graders and 89 percent of the students passed the exit exams, Ms. Greer said.
In social studies, 96 percent of eighth graders and 91 percent of 10th graders passed the exam.Ms. Greer said 98 percent of exit exam takers also met the state requirements.
On the writing component, 96 percent and 98 percent of fourth and seventh graders, passed the TAKS examination, respectively, Ms. Greer said.
