Mr. Greenly was born June 19, 1917, in New York, NY, a son of Lilly and Louis Greenly.

Upon his Honorable Discharge, the couple moved to Beaufort, where Mr. Greenly became the owner-manager of L. Schoenberg & Son Building Supply Company.
Many in the Beaufort area remember "Professor" Greenly from his many years of teaching at the University of South Carolina's Beaufort campus, where he was ultimately elected Distinguished Professor Emeritus.He was also awarded Professor of the Year for USC.He was widely known and appreciated for his unconventional and colorful approach to teaching, in which he used lively, amusing and sometimes ribald personal anecdotes to illustrate his psychological lessons.
Mr. Greenly distinguished himself as an active and involved participant in numerous community pursuits.He served as a member of the Beaufort City Council, was a Past Master of the Beaufort Masonic Lodge, was President of the JC's, President of the Beth Israel Congregation and belonged to many other local organizations, including the American Legion, the Beaufort Lion's Club, the Shriners and the Rotary Club.
