    Gareth Green is a freelance transfer pricing consultant based in the United Kingdom, practising through his company, Transfer Pricing Solutions Ltd.

    He has extensive experience in transfer pricing, having worked virtually full-time in this area since 1995, primarily with Ernst & Young in the UK, but prior to that with Coopers & Lybrand in the United States and New Zealand.

    Commencing his career as an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand in London in 1985, Gareth switched to tax in 1989 and has worked in tax ever since.He transferred to C&L Auckland in New Zealand in 1992.Designated as C&L Auckland's transfer pricing expert in 1995, he spent most of 1996 on temporary transfer to C&L Boston, to learn about transfer pricing.When the UK introduced 'real' transfer pricing rules in 1998, Gareth returned home to the UK to join Ernst & Young London's transfer pricing group.

    Before resigning to go solo in January 2003, Gareth was a Director in Ernst & Young's London transfer pricing group.He has experience in all transfer pricing matters, including documenting compliance with the arm's length principle, designing transfer pricing systems to achieve clients' tax and other objectives, and negotiations with tax authorities.He has particular expertise in relation to thin capitalisation.

    Gareth has authored a number of articles for publications such as International Tax Review, Tax Journal and Taxation magazine, and has three times been named as one of the World's Leading Transfer Pricing Advisers in surveys by Legal Media Group / International Tax Review.He has also authored a comprehensive update of the part of Simon's Direct Tax Service that deals with transfer pricing and thin capitalisation.He is a member of the International Fiscal Association (www.ifa-uk.org).
