Marco Graziano - CEO Marco, co-founder, President and CEO of Visible Energy, is the visionary responsible for setting the company's strategy and agendas. He is a Silicon Valley serial entrepreneur who has held engineering and management positions at VLSI Technology, Inc., Sun Microsystems and Olivetti Advanced Technology Center. In 1995, Marco founded and served as CEO of Internet appliance pioneer Teknema, Inc., which was acquired in November 1999 by Ravisent Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:XEDA).

His more recent startups include MyCasa Network, Inc. a home automation and interactive security services company, and Eptascape, Inc., an advanced video analysis software company for the security market. Eptascape created the first MPEG-7 product and the GotoMyCamera online video security service and is licensing its MPEG-7 technology worldwide.

When Marco first plugged his electronic devices into the company's UFO Powerstrip and load monitor, he was surprised to discover that his TiVo consumes nearly $5/month worth of electricity. An avid motorcycle rider and a sustainability enthusiast, Marco builds his own electric bikes. He also participates in the City of Palo Alto's Green Energy program and is proud to be "Another Palo Altan for Renewable Energy."

Information contained in 1,525 frames, for example, can be handled in 2 kilobytes, Graziano said.

The MPEG7 annotations are encapsulated in a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) stream and processed by server-side software, such as the Eptascape Detection Engine, for behavioral analysis and event detection.Objects can be identified by segmenting the image.Pre-existing descriptors, tagged to image characteristics such as shape, color and texture, can be extracted and searched in real time, Graziano says.

The use of the MPEG7 standard, as well as the plug-and-play nature of the encoder, constitute a push by manufacturers of analytics hardware and software to make the technology more economical for a broader base of users, says Marco Graziano, CEO of Eptascape."Our goal is to get the cost of analytics down to less than $1,000 a camera," says Graziano, a cost point he says will begin to open up the small and medium sized business market.

Using a hand-held computer , Chief Executive Officer and President Marco Graziano turned on the water , simulating a flood. After the system alerted him to a problem , he used the Home Attendant to turn off the water.

The system encrypts the video and other information from the attended home or office to keep unauthorized users from peeking in to see if anyone is home.

The privately held company expects to have production-ready units of the Home Attendant , and to launch the MyCasa Network service in the second quarter. It also hopes to license the technology to computer manufacturers or service providers.
