Gottleber, though, doesn't dispute that open houses have lost much of their importance during the years.
"With the Internet, more and more people are going online to take virtual tours," she said."These are becoming the open houses now.People take the tours, see which homes they like, and then schedule an appointment for those that interest them."
Some buyers, though, insist on holding open houses.For them, local real estate agents had some advice on how best to make an open house a success: make sure the house is as clutter-free and clean as possible.
