    The tan female Chihuahua mix suffered a broken front right leg and major wounds around its body, the skin of some of the paws peeled away, said veterinarian Lisa Gote.

    "She's got multiple road burns where her skin is peeled off," Gote told the Fort Myers News-Press.

    Gote said she plans to run more tests and X-rays on the dog today.

    She said she's concerned the dog may have suffered a broken jaw because there's a wound on her chin.The animal is expected to recover with the proper care, but it will be a long, painful road back to health, Gote said.
