Randy has spent his lifetime in public service, with a record of responsible fiscal policy and a savvy management style. Randy's 40 years working in the public service include 16 years of government budget experience, 30 years of government management experience, and 10 years as an elected official. Randy's platform includes long-term planning and growth management at the county level, county leadership in tackling the issues facing the county, a return to competitive bidding, and a permanent funding solution for the Sheriff's office.
A La Pine resident for 10 years, Randy Gordon has served the local community as Chair of the Bend - La Pine School Board, President of La Pine Community Action Team, a member of the Deschutes County Commission on Children and Families, and as a Boy Scout Leader and youth sports coach. Before retiring to La Pine, Gordon's law enforcement career with the Puyallup Police Department spanned nearly 25 years, where he worked his way up the ranks from Patrol Officer to Division Commander. While sidelined by a serious stab wound received on duty, Gordon served as an elected member of the Puyallup City Council before returning to police work as Commander of the Investigations Division. Prior to launching his law enforcement career in 1969, Gordon served in Vietnam, where he was wounded in action and earned a purple heart.
