About Melanie Gordon
Melanie Gordon started her career in computer software in 1991 when she joined Discis Knowledge Research Inc., 6 months after graduating from University with a graduate degree in Communications and Social Science.
Discis was an electronic publishing company that developed children's educational books on CD-ROM.Beginning in sales for Discis, after 1 year Melanie moved into marketing, working on new product development.1994 promoted Melanie to Sr. Product Manager over the edutainment and commercial game line, which included the National Geographic series and the best seller Jewels of the Oracle.Responsibilities included: corporate and product marketing, material management, ROP, ROI, trade show management, market strategy, and CD-ROM manufacturing.
In 1996 Melanie joined Aztech New Media, a re-publisher of multi-packs for SOHO and entertainment as the Product Marketing Manager over their entire product line.Responsible for creating brand awareness, PR, market direction, sales quotas and more, Melanie was able to play a role on the management team while the company went public.
1998 found Melanie switching industries from multimedia to the world of network faxing, Data and RAS where she joined LANSource Technologies' management team as their Manager of Corporate and Channel Marketing & Public Relations.
While employed by LANSource Melanie created a joint venture with Teltran International's VP Operations, Mitchell Hershkowitz.This joint venture was formed so as to bring IP Telephony executives together in online chats in which industry-related ideas could be exchanged in an open and non-biased forum.
August 1999 rolled out the first chat on IP Fax related issues hailing industry veterans Maury Kauffman, Peter Davidson and Irfan Ali as its speakers.With its success, the chats continued and brought Senior Executives from the following companies: 3COM, Nortel, Microsoft, Pulver.com, Davidson Consulting, Telia, Natural MicroSystems, Dialogic, Brooktrout, Xerox and more.

As of January 2000 Melanie left LANSource upon the completion of its acquisition by 3Com to spin-off ChatOverIP.com with her partner Mitchell Hershkowitz.Melanie and Mitchell are excited about the developments of ChatOverIP.com as they roll out new services including; Virtual Press Conferences, Online Conferences (real-time); B-to-B solutions and more.
