Outgoing state Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon, D-Denver, said he thinks the state should look at limiting the use of electronic voting equipment, which some see as unreliable.

"I'd like to look at how much technology we use, whether we can move to more paper," Gordon, who is chairman of the Election Reform Commission, said last week.

State Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon, a Denver Democrat, said he might prefer a new system that would emphasize paper balloting over electronic voting.

"The bell has been rung on electronic voting machines," Gordon said."The legislature may consider possible solutions that don't use electronic voting machines or minimize their use."

Coffman's office, however, on Monday decertified two of the four brands of optical scanners used to count paper ballots.

Gordon is co-chair of the Certification Task Force along with state Rep.

Sen. Jim Isgar, D-Hesperus, said former Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald, D-Golden, and term-limited Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon, D-Denver, are possible candidates.
    ...
"Ken Gordon would have to be considered a leading contender in that he ran for the job and was pretty close," Isgar said."I don't know what all they weigh, but that would be a consideration, I think."

Isgar said Fitz-Gerald's status as a former Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder, could help her if she chose to throw her hat into the running.

Colorado Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon said Thursday the court decision had related to initiative, or ballot measures.

"But it did not address recall gatherers. We have a statute that's still in existence that says you have to be a registered elector. There's no relevant court case that deals with it.They got half the story right, but the half that doesn't apply to them."

Gordon was not commenting specifically on the veracity of Long's decision and said his information had come from the Legislature's legal services division.

Ken Gordon Jr., the head of Fort Collins' Human Relations Commission, wrote in the Coloradoan (Dec. 27) about his family's ongoing experiences with discrimination in our community.

He believes that the biggest challenge we face is to get past denying its existence in our community and to begin to take steps to eradicate the racism and bigotry that exists here.

It was, therefore, disheartening for me to then open the Coloradoan two days later and read a letter that so clearly demonstrates this denial of which Gordon speaks.

"The biggest thing these people encompass is the desire to be a part of the greater good, they have a strong sense of selflessness and giving of one's self first rather than waiting for other people to give of themselves," said Ken Gordon, chairman of the Human Relations Commission.
