KENNETH GORDON, MD: Typically traumatic areas are more susceptible, so elbows and knees, the lower part of the back.

KENNETH GORDON, MD: The scenario of what happens when psoriasis develops, a patient who is genetically predisposed to developing the disease will have some kind of immune challenge.

KENNETH GORDON, MD: I think one thing to remember is, though psoriasis manifests itself on the skin primarily, the effects of psoriasis are very far-ranging in patients' health and the way patients view themselves.

KENNETH GORDON, MD: There are surveys that show that the psychological toll of psoriasis is the equivalent of depression, which is about as severe as you can get.

Kenneth Gordon, MD, is board-certified in dermatology and in internal medicine.Dr. Gordon received his MD from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.He then went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at the Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard University and a residency in dermatology at Northwestern University.He also completed a fellowship jointly sponsored by the departments of dermatology and microbiology/immunology at Northwestern.
Dr. Gordon has received a number of honors and awards including the Dermatology Foundation Clinical Career Development Award and the Albert Kligman Fellowship from the Society of Investigative Dermatology.He is an ad hoc reviewer for several medical journals.He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to several book chapters.
