Neskina Moraney, aka "KK," 22, of Brooklyn faces federal charges of robbery and using a gun during a violent crime in the Nov. 4, 2000, offense, U.S. Attorney Robert Goldman said Thursday.

"I want to give credit to the Easton Police Department and the FBI for their determination. They just won't give up on this case," Goldman said.

Moraney's indictment comes more than a year after the crimes were committed.

Early on Nov. 4, 2000, Moraney, Anthony Morillo, 23, and Shawn Pearce, 25, drove to Barlows to scout the location, Goldman said.
    ...
Morillo went inside the store to check out the inside, then Pearce and Moraney entered the store and pulled guns, Goldman said.
    ...
Goldman said the investigation is continuing and more arrests may be forthcoming.

In October, Morillo and Pearce, also of Brooklyn, pleaded guilty to their parts in both the Nov. 4, 2000, and Nov. 13, 2000, robberies.

Robert E Goldman, special investigator with the FBI Art Crime Team, said it was likely the heist was an inside job.

"Our experience, the FBI experience, is that approximately 80 per cent of museum theft cases of art are inside jobs - either people who work there - people who we say 'have the keys to the kingdom'," Mr Goldman told ABC Radio.

Mr Goldman said the artwork would be extremely difficult to sell because news of its theft would spread around the world very quickly.
    ...
Mr Goldman said it was unlikely a ransom demand would be made by the art thieves.

The chance of it being tracked down and returned in the short term was not good, Mr Goldman added, before saying many stolen artworks resurfaced years later.

A lawyer for Park West, Robert Goldman, said the company operates in a responsible manner and called the civil lawsuits "unfounded."

"Park West has hundreds of clients who were satisfied by what they've purchased over the years," Goldman said. With the recession, he said, "it's not surprising some people decide they want to reverse their purchases."

He said the company has been "viciously attacked on the Internet" and drawn into continued litigation "in hopes of a payday down the road."
