  Andrew Gold was a 70's artist to the max. He was a singer, musician (he plays several instruments), arranger and songwriter. Gold recorded four solo albums during the 70's and had three songs reach the U.K. top 20 from those albums, including 'Never Let Her Slip Away' (No. 5 in 1978). Andrew Gold also had success on the U.S. music scene. His single 'Lonely Boy' reached the top 10 in 1977.

  Andrew Gold's mother and father were talented artists, as well. Gold' mother, Marni Nixon, worked in several well-known plays. She created singing voiceovers for actresses. One of her most famous gigs was with West Side Story, where she sang the lyrics for actresses Natalie Wood. Gold's father, Ernest, worked as a film soundtrack composer.
  
  Before his career as a solo artist, Gold was a member of Linda Ronstadt's band.
