Clearer path for Levi Strauss in 2006 - analysts - [Cached Version]

UBS analyst Alexis Gold wrote in a recent research note that due to restructuring and tax charges, Levi Strauss's free cash flow has been "a fraction of its potential."Still, she wrote, it should improve in 2006 with stabilizing sales and "one-time expenses that should be largely in the past."

Alexis Gold, a research analyst in New York who follows Petro for investment bank CIBC World Markets, said EBITDA levels were above expectations. Those are important to investors who hold the company's financing bonds because it shows the company has the cash flow to make its interest payments, she said.

The full-year loss isn't of much concern because it was tied to costs of refinancing debt last year, which "should be a one-time event," Gold said.
