Dr. Bill Gitchell, president of Interfaith of Topeka, welcomed everyone by talking about this year's theme, "Thankful for Nature's Bounty," and what it means to people of faith.
"This year we are focusing on the bounty of nature and our role as stewards during our time on this earth. All faiths and traditions contain guidance concerning our relationship to creation," he said.

Afterward, Gitchell explained that this year's Thanksgiving offering is being given to Let's Help.
He told of Let's Help's humble beginnings from the trunk of a woman's car.
"Now it offers multiple services in the community," he said.
Interfaith, which had its roots in the Topeka Council of Churches before it was formed in 1978, strives to bring people together, regardless of religious faith, so that communications and dialogue are enriched to have a positive effect on Topeka's quality of life.
"Not long ago the word interfaith was heard most commonly as part of the phrase 'interfaith violence,' " Gitchell said."Now more and more groups such as ours are perpetuating the phrases 'interfaith cooperation' and 'interfaith understanding.' "
