ELIZABETH GIORGOS
Next year, Cornell University is going to have a very special student on its roster.Elizabeth, an active participant in the Mepham High School community, hopes to study biology.Already an Advanced Placement scholar, Elizabeth is enrolled in four AP courses this year and is a member of three honor societies.She has won commendations in math and science and has attained "honors" status in the Long Island Science Congress competition.Elizabeth has played lacrosse and has run on the winter track team.She is a peer tutor, a member of the science mentorship program and, for four years, has helped manage the school's Drama Club productions.
Outside of school, Elizabeth has attended a SUNY Stony Brook Biotechnology Summer Science Research Program and has participated in workshops at the Cold Spring Harbor DNA Learning Center.She babysits and has worked for the Bellmore-Merrick school district as a clerical worker in the summer.
