Dr. Giordano's major research interests include determining the molecular mechanisms by which cancer cells efficiently translate RNAs and identifying small molecules that target these mechanisms as better cancer treatments and in identifying targets involved in Alzheimer's disease progression for potential therapeutic intervention.

Acumen is in the second year of research collaboration with lab of Dr. Anthony Giordano of the LSU Health Sciences Center. The focus of the sponsored research is to validate therapeutic targets and identify useful assay targets using siRNA and gene array techniques, among others. Dr. Giordano is a member of the Acumen Scientific Advisory Board, and brings a both entrepreneurial and academic experience to the program.
