    ...
"The voters will have to decide if Tom Kean Jr. is too liberal for Republican primary voters," Ginty said.

    John Ginty

I have described Ginty previously as a "principled conservative" and his performance on Monday night, as well as my discussions with him afterwards, gave me no reason to change that description.Ginty ran for this same Assembly seat in 2003 and 2005, and also stood up and ran in last year's US Senate primary on behalf of Republicans who were dissatisfied with Tom Kean, Jr. campaign.
    ...
I was among the 25% who voted for Ginty on that basis.

Ginty is a confident and articulate speaker quite at home behind a podium.
    ...
Ginty said that Senator Cardinale pleaded with him to push forward on that issue.
    ...
Republicans need to be willing to step up to the plate to fight Democrat incumbents."Where I felt Ginty got off track and diluted his message was in attacking the fact that his opponents earned the endorsements of the NJEA and the Sierra Club.
    ...
Ginty closed strong, however, by outlining a:

I've got to explain to my dad, who is 77 years old, why I'm a defendant in a lawsuit brought by the BCRO, and why I'm being sued by my friends Charlie Kahwaty and John Ginty.
    ...
One has to wonder how much Todd Caliguire, John Ginty, and Joseph Schweighardt actually approve of what Talarico is doing.
    ...
Shortly thereafter, 0-for-his-last-2 former Bergen Freeholder Todd Caliguire announced his opposition to O'Toole, joined by 0-for-his-last-3 conservative activist John Ginty and incumbent Wayne Councilman Joseph Schweighardt.
    ...
Ginty faces a particular irony, since the very people with whom he has aligned himself in 2007 were attempting to discredit him back in 2005 when he also ran for the same Assembly seat, only then they attacked Ginty on O'Toole's behalf!
    ...
Also, the line "Ginty, Schweighardt and Caliguire refer to their opponents as 'Whitman Republicans', and criticize them for straying from conservative principles during the time that the GOP had full control of Trenton" was intended to inform, not endorse.
    ...
Their political promotions, however, are far from guaranteed, because an aggressive slate of challengers has been organized to compete in the June primary, consisting of two Ridgewood residents - former Bergen County Freeholder Todd Caliguire and three-time candidate John Ginty - as well as Councilman Joseph Schweighardt from Wayne.
    ...
Caliguire's running mate, Ginty, is a principled conservative who ran for the Assembly both in 2003 and 2005.Ginty deserves the admiration of Republicans for presenting himself as a candidate for the U.S. Senate nomination last year, attempting to inject some energy into the base that Tom Kean Jr.'s thoroughly uninspirational campaign did not.
    ...
Ginty, Schweighardt and Caliguire refer to their opponents as "Whitman Republicans," and criticize them for straying from conservative principles during the time that the GOP had full control of Trenton.
    ...
Finally, there is the possibility of another ideologically conservative ticket forming in District 40, although perennial candidates Joe Tomanelli and John Ginty have been silent thus far.

Kean's opponent, John Ginty, represents a more organized challenge from members of the state GOP's conservative wing.

Ginty, a financial data analyst in New York and the former president of the Ridgewood Republican Club, began circulating petitions three weeks ago following an intramural spat between Kean and the Bergen County Republican Organization. His slogan: "Republicans for Conservative Leadership."

Ginty acknowledges he has raised very little money because he has focused on collecting signatures. He said he plans now to turn his full attention to fundraising, most of which will go toward broadcast advertising."We will raise enough inside New Jersey and outside the state to get our message out," Ginty said.
