Gibson , though fatally wounded with a bullet to the chest , returned fire and seriously wounded the gunman , who is now in the hospital with a limited chance of survival.

There are more than a few officials in Washington who should learn an important lesson from Officers Chestnut and Gibson. But those who most should learn from this are precisely those who have the least ability to learn. These Officers followed their training of 18-years' standing , and died in the defense of their country's interests.
There are some public officials who have it exactly backward.Their training of 18-years' standing is to allow the nation to suffer , in defense of their private and unacceptable interests.
