Alessia Genziana Lay, PHD Candidate, MCHD, BS

Alessia Genziana Lay holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Sociology and a Master of Science in Counseling and Human Development both from St. Lawrence University, Canton , New York . She graduated with honors from the university.She is presently a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago , IL .

She did her pre-doctoral psychology internship at Northern Arizona University Counseling and Testing Center in Flagstaff , AZ.She co-led group therapy for anorexia, bulimia, survivors of sexual assault, maintained on-call crisis shifts for suicide attempts, accidents and bereavement and assaults.

She did past work at the Chicago Bureau of Mental Health - Northwest Community Mental Health Center in Chicago , IL . She also worked on Thresholds Mother's Project-Parenting Assessment Team.She was a court appointed translator for the Flagstaff Municipal Court, Flagstaff , AZ.She worked for the Caritas International, Rome , Italy , conducting interviews, assessing needs of political refugees/homeless and referring them to the proper channels.She was also involved in ERP (Elderly Reach out Program) in New York City , the First Aid Soup Kitchen for the Homeless and the English Now Program.

She holds certification of participation in numerous seminars and workshops providing professional development in areas such as: Dissociative Identity disorders, anger and impulse control disorders, borderline personality disorder, and the systematic desensitization in treating anxiety.

She is a freelance translator - Italian to English and English to Italian.She is fluent in Italian and proficient in French.
